SEE WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW AND HOW YOU CAN HELP
Lilomi has very strong links to an orphanage and school called Jonathan's Child Care (JCC) in Bo Sierra Leone, the children there are the inspiration for the establishment of our charity. Our initial projects will be aimed at the development of this amazing orphanage, school and local community.
School Reference Library
Imagine that your child doesn't have access to the internet or computers to help them research their homework to broaden their understanding. Then imagine that you don't have books. This is the reality of school children here. They are given information by their teachers in class which they copy into their school books and that's it.... you can see why so many struggle with basic maths skills or are terrified of reading because of their lack of reading comprehension.
We want to help the children of JCC by helping fund their library. We need to raise £2500 to equip the library with the necessary curriculum text books. This will enable the 300+ children whose families cannot afford to buy the text books to have access to the material they need to complete their schooling, opening the doors of their future to them.

TOILET UPGRADE AT JCC ORPHANAGE AND SCHOOL BO, SIERRA LEONE
The importance of good water supply and sanitation are extremely important and even more so in a country like Sierra Leone where water born diseases are endemic and viruses like Ebola threaten to return.
The toilet at the Jonathan’s Child Care School is woefully inadequate to serve the 300 -400 people that need access to it daily.
The septic tank is too small, and it is not lined with cement which means that human waste is leaked into the ground potentially contaminating the orphanage water supply.
The toilets are too few and difficult to clean.
The girl’s toilets do not have closed cubicles so that they are not private.
The smaller children have to use a potty out side which is emptied and cleaned by a staff member.
Lilomi is going to make these toilets fit for the children they are supposed to be serving by:
Surveying and digging the septic tank again, installing a tank that prevents the leaking of human waste into the ground protecting the water supply for the school and orphanage children
Connect the JCC campus to the mains water supply eliminating the need to pump water from the well and further preserving the children's water supply.
Give the children toilet cubicles with doors protecting their privacy and making the school environment more comfortable for them.
Provide a sheltered hand washing area for the children
Provide a toilet area for the younger children with a cleaning area.
Facilitate WASH training for the children and teachers on good hygiene.
